The capacity to access the internet on the Belkin router depends on the number of conditions. There’s a security feature available in the Belkin router which is used to protect it from intruders. If this feature is wrongly configured, you will find a problem in accessing the internet on the Belkin router.

Connect through Ethernet

  • Search for the Ethernet port at the back of your router. It is generally white in color.
  • Connect the Ethernet cable to the jack and another end of it to the computer port. Wait till the computer detects your Belkin router.
  • Open the web browser and enter the IP address of the Belkin router in the space provided. You will find the web page on the screen after pressing the ‘Enter’.
  • Tap ‘Login’.  A screen will appear that will ask you to enter the password. By default, the password is ‘password’ itself. If you have created a new one, then enter the new in the field box.

Reset TCP/IP settings

  1. Go to the ‘Start’ button.
  2. Key-in CMD in the search folder. Right-click on the ‘CMD’ and select ‘Run as an administrator’. This will open the command prompt.
  3. Enter nets hint/resetlog.txt and press ‘Enter’.
  4. Restart your computer if you get any flash message on screen related to this.

Check wi-fi settings

  • Go to the ‘Encryption’ option given under the ‘Wireless’ section on the left-hand side. You will find the security window. There are multiple types of encryption available in the Belkin routers. The most common and popular one is WEP, WPA and WPA-PSK.
  • If the security option is disabled on the router, then it means the problem is not related to security. If it is enabled, then check the mode whether it is WPA PSK, WEP, 128bit WEP, 64 bit WEP or simply WPA enabled. Check it thoroughly and enter the passkey for the same on the computer.

Check broadcasting settings

  • Open the Belkin web interface page.
  • Go to the ‘Channel and SSID’ link from the top of the menu options.
  • Select ‘Broadcast SSID’. If this field is not selected earlier, then there are chances that the Wi-Fi problem arises due to this.
  • Click ‘Apply changes’.

Reset router

  • Go to ‘Utilities’ from the main page of your router setup.
  • Click on ‘Restore factory default’. You will be prompted for the action, click to continue.
  • Press ‘OK’ if the dialog box again appears. The router will then perform the restore function on its own and all the settings will restore to defaults. Restart your computer after restarting the router.
